Wima has been operating since 1948, when Wilhelm Westermann founded in Unna a small production plant, which manufactured capacitors for the rapidly growing electronic industry. Wilma itself grew equally rapidly, developing its research and manufacturing potential. In 1959 the Company launched the world’s first serial production metallized leaded capacitor. The end of 1983 and the beginning of 1984 brought the world’s first SMD capacitor: the Company developed and launched a polyester based capacitor for surface mounting. Its enhanced version has been available since 1985.
Today Wima owns four factories (all of which located in Germany) and a wide network of distributors. Since 1992 all these factories are ISO 9001 certified, ensuring the highest production standards.
The Company’s offer includes different types of capacitors, which can be used to good effect in a variety of applications, also the highly-specialized ones.
