CES Non-Contact Safety Switches

Compared to traditional solutions, non-contact safety switches provide considerable advantages where tough ambient conditions apply.
They are also invaluable for use on imprecisely controlled equipment such as hinges. The basic element of non-contact safety switches from Euchner is a uniquely coded actuator. Supply voltage for data transfer to the coded actuator is realized by means of a non-contact inductive read head.
Apart from safety outputs a monitoring output is also available. Based on the redundant design of the evaluating device, the solution is applicable even for the highest safety requirements (category 4 according to EN 954-1).

Safety Switch with Relay Output
Non-contact safety switches consist of three parts:
- evaluation unit
- read head
- coded actuator
The actuator and read-head are available in a rectangular and cylindrical design. The read-heads are also available in a pluggable design. The low width of the evaluator unit permits space-saving assembly in the control cabinet. Two relay contacts (safety outputs) permit switching between large and small currents.

Safety Switch with Semiconductor Output
For this switch the housing is according to the EN 60 947-5-2 standard, which means that the read head and the evaluation device form a single, compact unit. This particular feature of locating the evaluation unit within the safety guard permits the entire device to be IP 67 protected.
Standard models with a connector reduce installation time to a minimum. Galvanically isolated semiconductor outputs also allow co-operation with the PLC driver.
